Vidya Bhawan Society (VBS) Udaipur
Vidya Bhawan was set up in 1931 with the opening of the first Vidya Bhawan School in Mewar, a medium-sized princely state in Rajasthan having a literacy rate of 4.9% at that time. The main motivation for those who founded and nurtured it was that education was the key to responsible citizenship and a democratic society.
Defying social prejudice, Vidya Bhawan institutions have tried to serve the role of providing good quality education to the poor and the lower middle class. The Society inspired by many shades of independence movement aims at greater social mixing, women's education and co-education. The key educational principles include (a) encouraging co-operation and eschewing individual competition (b) Respecting the agency of the learner and developing a society that has democratic and learning individuals. (c) Education is not for just maintaining status-quo but a vehicle of societal transformation. (d) Respecting agency of the teacher with an effort to build greater capacities in her to understand and fulfill her role.
Vidya Bhawan has always focused on an all-round development of individuals and promoting awareness in them of their civic rights and duties. It values the spirit of enquiry, freedom, exploration and development of an independent world view. It is also committed to stand for equity and quality in education and tries to contribute to ensure that all children get opportunities for quality education

The Centre for Science Education and Communication (CSEC) Delhi University
The Centre for Science Education and Communication (CSEC) is an autonomous institution within the University of Delhi. It was established in 1989 as a response to the changing relationship between society at large and the University viewed as a place for the pursuit and teaching of science. It is to serve as an institution in which studies can be carried out by teachers and students of the University, and other interested individuals, for the generation of ideas and materials for the improvement of science education at University and School levels; and for the promotion of a wider interest in science and scientific issues, through all means of communications.
It has a threefold charter: to work for the improvement of science education within the University, to interact with the school system in the context of science (and mathematics), and to propagate awareness of science-related issues among people. The Centre has also taken up different outreach programmes, which pertain to quality improvement of school education. The School Library Development Group is one such initiative of CSEC. This group is actively involved in the improvement of school libraries and highlighting the central nature of their role in imparting quality education.
